Lemuria, 2018
Acrylic and pastel on canvas
152H x 96W cm

Continuing in the Visitation series of repeated gestures and marks, I began to feel that this painting was more about landscape and place than about the spark of inspiration. I could clearly see that I was heading in the direction of something different. As such, I looked for an appropriate title for a place that was unknown and scoured the internet. The name of Lemuria, a lost land located somewhere in the Indian or Pacific ocean surfaced.
