Pride, 2012
Mixed media on canvas
100 x 100cm

Regarded as the most perilous among the seven sins, pride assumes the role of the egoic mind, carrying with it a notorious reputation. The embodiment of avarice in this artwork is portrayed through the majestic presence of a horse, standing proudly at the center of the canvas. A clever use of imagery unfolds in the upper right, employing a technique reminiscent of ‘reversed’ or upside-down cards in Tarot readings. This visual choice serves as a metaphor for my belief that not all manifestations of pride deserve the negative connotations they often carry. It underscores my perspective that humanity’s various sins maintain a delicate equilibrium, each bearing a relative weight in the grand tapestry of human experience.
