When I left my trade profession of architecture, I was immediately compelled to create artwork, things which I thought was beautiful. My first artworks were monochromatic graphite artworks, but I soon became interested in painting. Since 1999, I have been painting off and on with small exhibitions, both group and solo in Hong Kong. More importantly though is that during the course of the years, I have been looking for a language of painting that speaks to me, that reflects authenticity or my own ‘style’. Instead of going to an art school, I scoured Youtube and found all the inspiration and guidance I needed in the works of Cy Twombly, Basquiat, Cecily Brown and abstract expressionists Jackson Pollack, Willem de Kooning and Robert Motherwell.  I am pleased to say that the series of paintings that I plan to show in The Other Art Fair is something I feel very much in tune with me.
